Aloha!!! After spending 4
full days in Waikiki for Megan’s dance
competition, we were so excited to head over to
Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa in Ko Olina,
Hawaii! When we arrived at Aulani, we were
immediately greeted with traditional leis. We
checked-in at the beautiful check-in desk and
admired the gorgeous lobby that overlooked
Waikolohe Valley and the beach cove.
We went over to the Mahalo
Member Mingle, which was an event specifically
for Disney Vacation Club members. We got to
learn more about the resort, pin trade with
fellow DVC members, and answer trivia questions
for prizes. Megan won a DVC luggage tag for
answering a question about Oahu, and Bonnie won
an Aulani print for correctly spelling
supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
After the event, our room was
ready! We had a beautiful island view of the
mountains and a very nice room! After getting
settled and unpacked, we headed down to
Waikolohe Valley! This consisted of a body
slide which led into the pool area, an inter
tube slide that led into the lazy river, and the
Menehune Bridge. We had a great lunch at Off
the Hook, and spent a very fun afternoon soaking
up the sun! We even saw our favorite mice,
Mickey and Minnie, as well as Goofy, who were
all on vacation at Aulani too! We enjoyed yummy
a snack of the famous Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream
bars!
Afterwards, we got ready for
dinner at Makahiki. This was by far the best
buffet we have ever been to! We enjoyed
Hawaiian dishes, as well as Caesar salad,
shrimp, and prime rib. After dinner, we went
out to the Starlit Hui show on the Halawai Lawn,
which was filled with Polynesian performances!
We called it a night and got
ready for another great day at Disney in
paradise!
3/12/13
This morning, we had
breakfast at the Olelo Room. After breakfast,
we went to the DVC Preview Center to do some pin
trading before heading out to Aulani’s beach
cove. We enjoyed a great morning catching some
rays, playing in the sand, and having fun in the
ocean. We ate lunch at Mama’s Snack Stop, and
saw Chip & Dale and Mickey & Minnie.
Afterwards, we had fun in Waikolohe Valley as we
went down the slides and hung out in the pool.
Then, we had a special meet and greet with
Stitch, who is Megan’s all-time favorite
character!
Courtney and Megan did an
animation activity in the Pau Hana room, where
they learned how to draw Mickey Mouse, and
painted pictures of Stitch and Goofy. We
enjoyed some delicious shaved ice before heading
up to our room to get ready for the evening. We
went out to the beach to watch the sunset and
take some pictures!
Then, we went to dinner at
AMA AMA. We requested a waterside table, and
the awesome host Michael seated us at the best
table in the house! We had an absolutely
incredible view of the sunset over the water!!
We also had the best waiter, Kevin, who we had
read reviews about prior to our dinner. We all
enjoyed filet mignons that were perfect! It was
a great dinner at AMA AMA and a wonderful way to
end our last night in Hawaii! We did some
shopping in the gift shop and enjoyed an ice
cream treat before packing and heading to bed.
3/13/13
We spent our last morning at
Aunty’s Celebration Breakfast, which is a
character buffet at Makahiki! We saw Mickey
when we arrived to the restaurant, and Minnie,
Goofy, and Aunty came around to our table! We
had a very delicious breakfast, and it was such
a fun meal to start off our last day at Aulani!
We finished packing our bags, and then spent the
rest of the day at Waikolohe Valley and the
beach cove!
We enjoyed a yummy lunch at
Off the Hook. We did some last minute pin
trading and shopping, and grabbed one last ice
cream treat and shaved ice! We had such a
wonderful time at Aulani, and made some great
family memories! Even though it was many miles
away from Walt Disney World, it truly felt like
a Disney resort, complete with all of the
magical Disney touches and details!
